Montgomery County Hosts Free Health Fair for Rural Residents this Saturday

Empowering Montgomery County: Connecting Rural Communities with Health Resources through Community Events

On Saturday, the Montgomery County community is invited to attend a free health fair, featuring approximately 15 vendors who will provide information on nutrition and wellness. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Montgomery County Activities Center in Grady on 147 Old School House Road.

As transportation can be challenging for individuals living in rural areas, Montgomery County has made it a priority to bring health resources directly to the people in unincorporated parts of the county through events like these. James Williams, the director of parks and recreation for Montgomery County, emphasized the importance of reaching out to those living in rural parts of the county through initiatives like this one.

The goal of the health fair is to connect residents with valuable resources and educate them on topics such as stretching food dollars, making healthy food and drink choices, and staying active. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in an exercise class during the event.

This is not the first time that Montgomery County has hosted a health fair; a similar event took place on April 13 at Elton N. Dean Sr. Park, which drew over 150 attendees. Williams expressed his hope that community members will come out to enjoy the fair, engage in activities, and gain important information to improve their overall health and well-being.
