2023-2024 Annual Report Released by Department of Population and Public Health Sciences

USC’s Department of Population and Public Health Sciences Celebrates 2023-2024 Annual Report: Advancing Research, Education, and Community Engagement.

The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences at Keck School of Medicine of USC has released its 2023-2024 Annual Report, highlighting the impactful contributions made by its staff, faculty, students, and alumni to the field of population and public health.

The report showcases the wide-reaching scope of work within the Department and the significant achievements made by individuals in research, education, and community engagement. This year, the Department maintained its #2 ranking in funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), enabling groundbreaking research in areas such as cancer, genetics, disease, maternal and child health, and environmental health. Notable recognitions and achievements were received by research teams, including Marlena Fezjo, PhD being named one of Time Magazine’s ‘Women of the Year.’ Faculty members provided expert scientific testimonies in political forums while community partnerships in Los Angeles and beyond helped translate health research into tangible outcomes.

In addition to these achievements, the Department celebrated the successes of its students, alumni and education programs. The Master of Public Health program received a perfect score and full seven-year re-accreditation from the Council on Education in Public Health showcasing the Department’s commitment to diversity, equity
