Hubert Kos, World Champion and NCAA Runner-up, Announces Transfer to University of Texas

Newest member of the Longhorns: Hubert Kos, the 2024 NCAA Champion and former Arizona State swimmer

University of Texas has secured a major transfer in the world champion swimmer, Hubert Kos. This move follows the departure of head coach Bob Bowman from Arizona State to Texas, where he will now be a part of the Longhorns’ swimming team. Kos is currently completing his sophomore season at Arizona State and had an impressive performance at the 2024 NCAA Championships, scoring 48 individual points. He placed second in the 200 backstroke, third in the 200 IM, and fourth in the 100 backstroke.

One of Kos’ notable achievements was breaking Ryan Murphy’s NCAA record for the 200 backstroke during the Pac-12 Championships with a time of 1:35.69. His success led to a shift in his NCAA lineup from his freshman year, where he competed in the 400 IM instead of the 100 backstroke.
