Members of UAW at the Warren Stellantis plant approve strike for health and safety concerns

UAW Members at Stellantis’ Warren Stamping Plant Vote to Authorize Strike Amid Grievances

In response to various grievances, including non-functional air conditioning and poor bathroom sanitation, UAW members at Stellantis’ Warren Stamping Plant have approved a strike authorization. Although this vote does not necessarily mean that the over 1,000 workers will immediately go on strike, it does add pressure during ongoing negotiations with the company.

The Warren Stamping Plant provides parts to numerous plants across North America that manufacture vehicles such as the Dodge Durango, Chrysler Pacifica, Ram trucks, and Jeep models. The exact number of votes in favor of strike authorization was not disclosed, but the timeline for potential strike action remains uncertain at this time.

Stellantis has pledged to prioritize employee safety and health and hopes to resolve these issues without any work disruptions. The company is currently engaged in discussions with the UAW to address the concerns raised by union members.

A video shared by the UAW on social media revealed unsanitary conditions within the plant, including standing liquids and debris on the floor as well as oil leaks reported by workers. UAW Local 869 President Romaine McKinney III emphasized the importance of addressing health and safety grievances and ensuring that workers are treated with respect and dignity. Member Chautay Smith echoed these sentiments, urging fellow workers to stand together and demand better treatment and conditions at the Warren Stamping Plant.
