Cristiano Ronaldo named the world’s highest-earning athlete by Forbes

Ronaldo Tops the Forbes List of Highest-Paid Athletes for Fourth Time in a Row

In a remarkable feat, Cristiano Ronaldo has once again emerged as the highest-paid athlete in the world, according to Forbes’ latest list. This marks his fourth time at the top of the rankings, and he earned an impressive $260 million in the last year. The majority of his earnings came from his club contract with Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.

Following closely behind Ronaldo is golfer Jon Rahm, who recently signed a lucrative deal with the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Tour. Lionel Messi, another soccer star, also features prominently in the top three highest-paid athletes. Rahm’s total earnings amount to $218 million, while Messi earned $135 million in the same period.

Interestingly, there are no women in the top 50 earners for the first time since 2019. Forbes compiles its list through industry insights, news sources, and salary databases. The figures are all converted to US dollars for consistency.

In addition to these powerhouse names, NBA players LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Steph Curry also feature on the list. So too do soccer stars Neymar and Kylian Mbappé. NFL player Lamar Jackson rounds out the top 10 highest-paid athletes for 2024.
