Ottawa Co. Announces Retirement of Deputy Health Officer and Appointment of Successor

OCDPH’s Deputy Health Officer Steps Down: Marcia Mansaray Retires, Lisa Uganski Takes On New Role

Ottawa County Department of Public Health (OCDPH) in Michigan has announced a staffing change that will take place at the end of May. Deputy Health Officer Marcia Mansaray will retire, effective May 31, 2024.

Lisa Uganski, the department’s current Health Planning and Promotion Manager, will assume the role of deputy health officer starting June 3. Uganski has been with OCDPH since 2000 when she started as a registered dietitian and health educator. She has expressed excitement about her new opportunity and is dedicated to continuing the department’s efforts to improve the quality of life for Ottawa County residents.

Mansaray has been with OCDPH for nearly 20 years, starting in 2006 as a health promotion specialist. Throughout her tenure, she has held several positions within the department, including senior epidemiologist. Mansaray has been the deputy health officer since 2020 and has played a key role in leading the department and community through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Health Officer Adeline Hambley praised Mansaray for her service and leadership, noting her wisdom, empathy, and grace. Hambley expressed sadness at Mansaray’s retirement but is looking forward to Uganski stepping into the role of deputy health officer. Uganski’s knowledge, expertise, and passion for serving the community will be valuable assets for OCDPH moving forward.
