French President Emmanuel Macron scores penalty for wife’s foundation in charity game

Macron Shines on the Football Pitch in Charity Match for Children in Hospitals

French President Emmanuel Macron showcased his football skills by playing the full 90 minutes in a charity match alongside former football stars Didier Drogba, Didier Deschamps, and Eden Hazard. The match was organized to raise funds for children in hospital, with Macron scoring a penalty against a goalkeeper who did not move, helping his team, the presidential XI, defeat a team of healthcare professionals from Plaisir coached by former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, 5-3.

The VCF has a history of organizing benefit matches and attracting renowned players, with almost 2,500 matches held since its inception in 1971. Macron wore number three on his jersey and played alongside former France international Christian Karembeu in the game. Brigitte Macron’s hospital foundation, established in 1989, focuses on raising funds for children and teenagers undergoing hospital treatment. The charity match was a noble effort to support children and adolescents in hospitals and improve their daily lives.

Macron previously participated in a charity football match in 2021 where he scored a penalty. The match on Wednesday raised 57,500 euros for a hospital foundation chaired by Macron’s wife, Brigitte. Laurent Blanc also featured as part of the star-studded lineup at the event.
