Virginia High School Students Shine at International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles

The International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles from May 12-17 is the next destination for three Virginia high school students who took home grand-prize awards at the 2024 Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair. Wesley Kang from James Madison High School won for his project on predicting wastewater induced earthquakes using a novel mathematical model. Anant Khandelwal, Sritan Motati, and Siddhant Sood from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology won for their project on 3D prototyping using diffusion-based conditional mesh synthesis. Gabriela Konde from George C. Marshall High School was recognized for her work on eradicating E. coli biofilm on medical devices using optimal sound frequencies.

These top-performing students are among seventy-eight participants from Fairfax’s school system who showcased their talents and achievements in the field of science and engineering at the state-level competition held at Old Dominion University.
