Amarillo City Council Greenlights Development Agreements for Kids Inc Sports Complex

Amarillo City Council Approves Development Agreements for Kids Inc Sports Complex, With Funding Support from Partners

Recently, the Amarillo City Council approved three development agreements that will kickstart the construction of the Kids Inc sports complex in south Amarillo. The initial costs for infrastructure such as water, utilities, streets, and a parking lot will be covered by the partners involved in the project. Over time, as tax collections increase from development in a designated zone at the intersection of Loop 335 and I-27, the partners will be reimbursed for their contributions.

The partners involved in this initiative include the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation, which contributed $7.5 million for streets and utilities, and Attebury Elevators and Rockrose Development, which invested $4.6 million in streets and utilities. In addition to these contributions, Attebury and Rockrose will be responsible for building a $3 million parking lot as part of the development agreements.

This collaborative effort aims to enhance sports and recreational opportunities in the Amarillo community by providing new facilities for children to enjoy. With the support of the partners and approval from the city council, construction of the Kids Inc sports complex is expected to move forward smoothly. Copyright 2024 KFDA. All rights reserved.
