Trump Supporters Indicted for Election Fraud Scheme in Arizona: A Legal Proceeding that Questions the Legitimacy of the 2020 Presidential Election

In the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, which saw Joe Biden defeat Donald Trump in Arizona, 18 individuals were indicted by a grand jury for allegedly participating in a scheme to falsely certify Trump’s victory. The scheme aimed to reverse Trump’s defeat and declare him the winner in Arizona.

According to the complaint, 11 Trump supporters met in December 2020 to sign a certificate stating that the state’s 11 delegates were eligible to vote in the Electoral College, even though Biden had won Arizona. The signed certificate was then shared via social media and sent to Congress and the National Archives. Those charged with this crime include Kelli Ward, state legislators Anthony Kern and Jake Hoffman, Michael Ward, Tyler Bowyer, Greg Safsten, Jim Lamon, Robert Montgomery, Samuel Moorhead, Nancy Cottle, and Loraine Pellegrino.

In addition to these individuals who have been identified publicly, there are seven other people who were reportedly indicted but their names have not been disclosed. Among those indicted whose identities were not revealed is Ted Goodman, a spokesman for Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani. This legal proceeding highlights ongoing concerns about the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election and its implications on American democracy.
