Buccaneers’ Mike Evans Ranked as Best Value in Draft by CBS Sports

Tampa Bay Buccaneer’s Mike Evans Proves the Worth of Being Overlooked in the 2014 NFL Draft

Mike Evans, the seventh overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, has proven to be a valuable player over the years. Despite being chosen high in the draft, his performance on the field has exceeded expectations, as recognized by CBS Sports. In a list of 15 players drafted at their position in the last 10 NFL Drafts, Evans was ranked seventh for his overall value.

Looking back at the 2014 draft, it’s evident that some teams may have missed out on Evans’ potential. The Buffalo Bills, for example, selected Sammy Watkins instead of Evans, who has had a less successful career. Similarly, many of the players drafted ahead of Evans no longer play in the league, highlighting the value of his lengthy tenure with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Evans’ impact on the Buccaneers cannot be understated. Known for his consistency and high level of performance, he set records with 10 consecutive 1,000-yard seasons at the start of his career and made significant contributions to their Super Bowl win in 2020. This success led to him signing a lucrative two-year contract worth up to $52 million at the age of 30.

As Evans continues to excel on the field and solidify his legacy in Tampa Bay, fans can expect more from him in the coming seasons. For GMs who had passed up on him during that first round selection process all those years ago, they would probably wish they could go back now and make that different choice too!
