Rising Employment in Italy: Over 300,000 More Workers Celebrate May Day 2024

In February 2024, Italy experienced a significant increase in employment with the number of employed people rising by 292,000 compared to April 2023, according to provisional data from Istat. This means that almost 300,000 more workers are celebrating May 1st this year compared to last year. The CGIA Research Office highlighted that the number of employed people in Italy increased to 23,773,000 in February 2024 from 23,481,000 in April 2023.

The artisans of Mestre noted that around 65 percent of Italian workers are employed by small businesses with fewer than 25 employees. The CGIA emphasized the importance of supporting small entrepreneurs to improve employment trends by cutting taxes, reducing bureaucracy, and providing necessary liquidity for investments to increase competitiveness. Istat reported that in 2023, the number of employed people in Italy reached 24 million units, with a significant growth in the Southern regions. Forecasts indicate that the overall number of employed people is expected to reach over 19 million by 2035.

The research office also highlighted an increase in the number of employees with fixed-term contracts in 2023. Additionally, there was a significant rise in highly specialized workers and skilled workers. Furthermore, the incidence of permanent job positions increased by around five percent compared to pre-pandemic levels. The forum discussions touched on a variety of topics ranging from house renovation tips to summer vacation plans. The importance of hormonal balance and its impact on physical and mental health was also discussed extensively.

Overall, Italy’s employment trends are showing positive signs as more workers return to work after being impacted by the pandemic. However, continued support for small businesses and investment into human capital will be crucial for sustained growth and stability in Italy’s labor market.

In conclusion, Italy has seen an impressive increase in employment figures with around three hundred thousand more workers celebrating May Day this year compared to last year due to Istat’s latest provisional data for February 24th from April
