West Virginia Tennis Makes History with NIT Sports Championship Appearance in May 2024

In 2024, the West Virginia University tennis team will compete in the UTR Sports NIT Championship, which will take place from May 6-8 in Bradenton, Florida. This marks the first postseason tournament appearance for West Virginia in the history of the program and is an important step for the program. Head coach Miha Lisac expressed excitement and honor in being selected to play in the championship, calling it an opportunity to represent the university on a national stage.

The participating teams in the tournament include Appalachian State, Colorado, Liberty, Pacific, Saint Mary’s, Tulsa, West Virginia, and Wyoming. The NIT Championship matches will be broadcast on Prime Video. This championship is the second edition in women’s tennis and follows TCU’s victory over Stetson as winners of the inaugural championship in 2023.

West Virginia had a successful regular season with 14 victories and its first winning season since 2010. Additionally, the team secured its most Big 12 wins in a single season since joining the conference in 2013.
