Flights Delayed at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport Due to Walkout

Swissport Finland Stages Walkout to Protest Finnair’s Flight Ticket Benefit Change for Subcontractor Employees

Swissport Finland’s cargo handling services employees staged a walkout at Helsinki-Vantaa airport on Monday, leading to flight delays. The purpose of the walkout was to prevent a strike by ground service employees from other companies, as it was triggered by Finnair’s decision to replace the flight ticket benefit for subcontractor company employees with a weaker partner ticket benefit.

The Civil Aviation Workers’ Union has been actively involved in the walkout, with updates provided by the chairman regarding the situation. It is unclear how long and how many flights were affected by the walkout, but passengers experienced disruptions as flights departed with delays from Helsinki-Vantaa airport.

The Swissport Finland employees were dissatisfied with Finnair’s decision to remove their flight ticket benefits and protested against it through this walkout. Negotiations between companies and employees are ongoing to resolve this issue and ensure that fair and consistent benefits are provided for all workers, regardless of their employer. It is crucial that both sides work together to find a mutually acceptable solution that will minimize disruptions and allow smooth operations at the airport.
