Swedish Defenseman Marcus Pettersson Named to IIHF World Championship Team Alongside Pittsburgh Penguins’ Erik Karlsson

In the upcoming IIHF World Championship tournament, Swedish defenseman Marcus Pettersson has been chosen to represent his country. The announcement was made by the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation on Tuesday, which also included Seattle Kraken forward Andre Burakovsky on the roster. The tournament will take place in Czechia from May 10-26.

At 27 years old, Pettersson has a wealth of international experience, having previously competed in Sweden’s IIHF World Championship tournaments in 2019 and 2022. This season, he achieved career highs in goals, assists, points, and average ice time per game while playing all 82 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
