Top Athletes in Somerset County for Spring Sports May 6-11

Somerset and Richland face off in a nail-biting baseball game, with Callen Miller leading the charge for the victors

In Monday’s baseball action, Somerset emerged victorious over Richland with a strong performance from Callen Miller. Miller recorded an impressive five hits, including a home run and five RBIs. Lane Lambert also had a standout game, hitting two home runs and tallying five RBIs. Carter Dunmyer added three hits to the mix, while Braeden Flower struck out 10 batters in six innings.

Meanwhile, Conemaugh Township secured a narrow 7-5 win over Cambria Heights thanks to Larry Weaver’s two hits, including a home run and two RBIs. D.J. Bambino drove in two runs for Conemaugh Township, while Luke Weber and Brennan Lohr each contributed two hits of their own.

In other news, Windber defeated Ferndale 12-2 in six innings, with Lucas Oleksa hitting a 3-run home run and tallying four RBIs. Nathan Betcher also had a solid performance for Windber. Despite losing to Hancock 10-2, Turkeyfoot Valley saw Bryce Nicholson hit two singles and Gavin Culp drive in one run.
