Part 2: Implementation of Precision Milking Technology begins

Revolutionizing Milk Production: The Advantages of VMS Batch Milking

In this article, we delve into the second part of our series on DeLaval’s new VMS Solutions Technology, which is known as batch milking. VMS Solutions Manager Jason French explains that batch milking involves cows moving to a robot instead of a traditional parlor setting for milking. This innovative system allows farmers to maintain a schedule by using robots to consistently milk cows.

French highlights that one of the key benefits of VMS batch milking is that it allows cows to be moved between robots at their own pace. This ensures a more relaxed and stress-free environment for cows during the milking process. In traditional parlors or rotary systems, a crowd gate is used to move cows up all at the same time. However, in VMS batch milking, this gate is not needed, and cows can enter and exit the holding area freely.

The holding area for cows in VMS batch milking has a different atmosphere compared to traditional parlors or rotary systems. Cows are able to enjoy a pleasant area with fans and the freedom to move from one robot to another. French explains that this setup ensures that cows are comfortable and relaxed during the entire process, which ultimately leads to better milk production and overall well-being.
