At 10:17 a.m., Normal Police were called to the 200 block of Susan Drive for a subject armed with a knife. The officers surrounded the individual and initiated communication with them, successfully de-escalating the situation by 11:40 a.m. The police department’s crisis negotiation team, Illinois State University Police, and McLean County Sheriff’s Office were all present at the scene.
At 12:31 P.M., Normal Police reported that an armed individual had been taken into custody without incident.
