OKWU Baseball Secures National Championship Berth: Pitcher Ashton Luerta Shines in KCAC Tournament

OKWU Baseball has secured their spot in the upcoming NAIA national tournament after winning the KCAC conference championship. To advance, the Eagles needed to win all four games in the tournament and they achieved this by defeating Friends University twice, Tabor and conference leaders Kansas Wesleyan.

The title game was a standout performance for Ashton Luerta on the mound. Facing only 12 batters, Luerta struck out 11 of them, demonstrating his dominance. Head Coach Kirk Kelly praised Luerta’s performance during the game.

Looking ahead, OKWU is eagerly awaiting the announcement of their first-round opponent for the NAIA tournament next Monday. Coach Kelly expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to potentially win a national championship this season.
