Double Trouble: Valtteri Puustinen and Jesse Puljujarvi named to 2024 IIHF World Championship team representing Finland
Two talented Finnish hockey players, Valtteri Puustinen and Jesse Puljujarvi, have been named to the 2024 IIHF World Championship team that will represent Finland in the upcoming tournament from May 10-26 in Prague and Ostrava, Czechia.
Valtteri Puustinen is a 24-year-old Kuopio native who played with Pittsburgh this season and led Penguins rookies in goals, assists, and points. He also played with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League, where he recorded 13 points and led the team with three points in two playoff games.
Jesse Puljujarvi is a 25-year-old Alvkarleby native who was raised in Finland and joined Pittsburgh on a professional tryout in December 2023. He signed a two-year contract with the Penguins on February 4 and played with Pittsburgh for 22 games in 2023-24, scoring four points. He also tallied nine points in 13 games with WBS Penguins before joining Pittsburgh.
The preliminary round schedule for Team Finland’s participation in the IIHF World Championship has been announced. Broadcast information will be released at a later date.
