A.J. Brown Signs Three-Year Extension with the Philadelphia Eagles: What You Need to Know
Six years ago, the Eagles drafted A.J. Brown and immediately signed him to a contract that would span his entire career with the team. Now, two years later, we find ourselves analyzing another contract extension for Brown, this time a three-year extension to his existing contract. The details of the extension have been made public by a source familiar with the terms, and it includes a signing bonus of $19.875 million.
The contract outlines specifics for base salaries, option bonuses, and offseason workout bonuses that will be paid between 2024 and 2029. Notably, the deal guarantees $51 million at signing, with an additional $29 million becoming fully guaranteed in March 2025, and the final $4 million secured in March 2026. This ensures a practical guarantee of $80 million for Brown’s future with the Eagles.
With this extension, Brown becomes the highest-paid receiver in terms of new-money average, earning $32 million per year. The contract also guarantees him a minimum career earnings of $124 million, cementing his financial security. Prior to this extension, Brown was set to earn $21 million for this year (fully guaranteed), $16 million in 2025, and $31 million in 2026. It’s worth noting that all per-game roster bonuses have been removed from his contract as part of this deal.
In total, this six-year, $164 million deal sets a new standard for receiver contracts in the NFL. With an impressive value at signing of $27.33 million per year (the highest total value at signing for any receiver), it’s clear that Brown has earned every penny he is getting through this extension agreement.
