Chicago Suburb Typewriter Repair Business Revives Old Machines to “Like New” Condition

The Art of Restoring the Past: Lucas Dul’s Typewriter Chicago Thrives on Preservation and Passion

Lucas Dul, a young man with a passion for history and old machines, has turned his hobby into a thriving business venture. He runs a typewriter repair shop in Downers Grove, Illinois, called Typewriter Chicago. With 70 to 80 typewriters in his workshop, Dul has been fixing these machines since he was 14.

Dul’s work involves an element of artistry that he has developed over the years, paralleled by his interest in doodling and photography. His goal is not to make typewriters look brand new but to get them working like new again. This unique approach has made his business successful and popular among collectors and enthusiasts alike.

As the demand for typewriters continues to grow, Dul is expanding his business and will soon relocate to a new space in Downers Grove. In addition to repairing typewriters, he also sells refurbished models, keeping up with the renewed popularity of these vintage machines. With plans for growth on the horizon, Typewriter Chicago is poised to become an even bigger success story.
