Armand Duplantis made history by breaking his own world record in the pole vault at the first Diamond League meeting of the 2024 season. The Swedish athlete jumped an impressive 6.24 meters, surpassing his previous best of 6.23 meters. He easily cleared the bar and celebrated his achievement with a leap off the sponge mat.

Duplantis, who has won two world outdoor championships and a world indoor title, is now gearing up for the Paris Olympics later in the year. His recent record-breaking performance only solidifies his status as one of the world’s best pole vaulters and makes him a strong favorite heading into the Games.

Meanwhile, Australian sprinter Torrie Lewis made a stunning debut in the Diamond League by winning gold in the 200m race with a time of 22.96 seconds, narrowly beating out top American athletes like Sha’Carri Richardson who finished second with a time of 22.99 seconds. In the women’s 400m race, world champion Marileidy Paulino of Dominican Republic claimed victory in 50.08 seconds while leading a competitive field that included athletes from Poland and United States. Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico also won gold in women’s 100m hurdles event with a time of 12.45 seconds.
