Partnership Between Call2Recycle Canada and EDI Results in Advanced Battery Sorting Technology

Revolutionizing Battery Recycling: Ontario’s Leadership in Sustainable Waste Management with Call2Recycle Canada and EDI

Ontario, Canada is set to become a leader in battery recycling with the help of Call2Recycle Canada and Electronic Distributors International Inc (EDI). The two companies have partnered to implement a new battery sorting technology that will significantly increase the province’s capacity to sort and recycle end-of-life batteries.

The state-of-the-art battery sorting equipment, located at EDI’s facility in Orillia, Ontario, is one of only four of its kind in the world. This new equipment will double the plant’s capability to sort used batteries effectively, paving the way for a more efficient and sustainable recycling process.

Call2Recycle Canada President Joe Zenobio commended EDI for its innovative approach to driving positive change in the recycling sector. He noted that advancements such as this one not only contribute to enhancing Ontario’s battery recycling infrastructure but also boost efficiency, support larger battery collection volumes, reduce environmental impact, and stimulate the local economy.

EDI Managing Partner Norm Yorke highlighted the importance of pioneering technology-driven battery sorting in North America to promote responsible recycling practices. He expressed his commitment to modernizing the recycling industry and investing in sustainable solutions that meet the evolving needs of their partners.

Overall, this partnership between Call2Recycle Canada and EDI represents a pivotal step forward in advancing sustainable battery recycling practices in Ontario and setting a precedent for innovative waste management solutions in North America.
