Bruins Make NHL Playoff History with Game 7 Victory over Leafs

Bruins Secure Historic Game 7 Victory, Break Montreal Canadiens’ Record and Advance to Second Round

The Boston Bruins secured a historic Game 7 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs to advance to the second round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. In an intense and thrilling game, the Bruins emerged victorious with a 2-1 overtime win, ending Toronto’s comeback bid and securing their place in the next round.

The series had been closely contested, with both teams trading wins throughout the first six games. But it was Toronto who fought back with a vengeance, winning Games 5 and 6 to force a decisive seventh game at TD Garden. Unfortunately for them, their comeback fell short as the Bruins clinched their fourth Game 7 victory over the Leafs in this century.

With this win, the Bruins broke Montreal Canadiens’ record for most Game 7 wins in NHL history, making them number one on that list with a total of 31 Game 7s played so far. The Leafs are now in second place with 27 Game 7s under their belt.

The Bruins will face off against the Florida Panthers in the second round, looking to exact revenge after being upset by them in last season’s playoffs. The two teams have a history of intense rivalries and this matchup is sure to be no different as they compete for a spot in Stanley Cup Finals. The first game of this series will take place on Monday night at Florida’s home arena.
