Revitalizing the Northgate Mall: A Local Entrepreneur’s Perspective on Rediscovering the Legacy of Lafayette’s Vibrant Shopping Center
Ebony Roberts, who left her teaching job to open a skincare business at the Northgate Mall six years ago, emphasizes that there are still many thriving businesses at the mall. With 35 shops mostly owned by local entrepreneurs, there is a strong sense of community and pride in preserving the legacy of the area.
Despite the challenges faced by the mall over the years, including businesses moving to the more modern South side of town, Rubin believes that it still has major potential for growth and success. This optimism is shared by other business owners like Cristal Henry of Glam House.
Henry recently opened her shop at the mall with the goal of drawing more local shoppers and businesses to the north side. She is confident that with time and effort, the Northgate Mall can once again become a hub for local businesses and shoppers.
Rubin fondly recalls a time when Northgate was a vibrant shopping center on Lafayette’s north side. Although it has faced challenges in recent years, he remains optimistic about its future and believes it has much potential for growth and success.
