Dave McCarty, a former Boston Red Sox player and 2004 World Series winner, has passed away at the age of 54 in California after suffering a ‘cardiac event’. McCarty played three seasons with the Red Sox and was part of the curse-breaking 2004 World Series championship team. He is survived by his wife, Monica, and their children, Reid and Maxine.

During his MLB career that spanned 11 years, McCarty played for seven teams before joining the Red Sox in his final three seasons. He was a first baseman and outfielder who played 630 games in total, representing teams such as the San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, and Oakland Athletics. After retiring from baseball, he worked as a Red Sox TV analyst for New England Sports Network.

McCarty’s former teammate, Lenny DiNardo, paid tribute to him on social media, calling him a great guy and expressing his sadness at the news of McCarty’s passing. The baseball community is mourning the loss of this beloved player who made significant contributions to his teams during his career. The Red Sox organization released a statement expressing their condolences to McCarty’s family and honoring his contributions to the team during his time with them.
