Minnesota Wild Forward Matt Boldy Leads U.S. Men’s Ice Hockey Team in World Championships”.
Matt Boldy, a forward from the Wild, has been selected as one of the 15 players on the initial U.S. roster for the World Ice Hockey Championships taking place in the Czech Republic from May 10-16. The team will be led by John Hynes, who is also the coach of the Wild.
The roster includes Boldy, Alex Vlasic and Seth Jones from Chicago, Shane Pinto and Brady Tkachuk from Ottawa, Zach Werenski from Columbus, Luke Kunin from San Jose Sharks, Dylan Larkin from Detroit Red Wings, Johnny Gaudreau and Cole Caufield from Columbus Blue Jackets, Alex Lyon from Detroit Red Wings, Luke Hughes from New Jersey Devils, Jake Sanderson and Joel Farabee from Philadelphia Flyers.
Brock Faber, a defenseman for the Wild who suffered fractured ribs at the end of the season could have been a strong candidate for the team but was unable to make it due to injury. The remaining spots on the team may be filled by players from teams that are eliminated in the first round of playoffs.
