JMU Football’s Spring Portal Activity: Tracking Departures and Transfers Amidst No Additions

JMU Football’s spring portal activity is being closely monitored to keep track of transfers and player movements. Although no transfer additions have been made yet, several key departures from the team have already occurred.

Tyrique Tucker, a defensive tackle who played in all 13 games in 2023, was projected as a starter in 2024. With three years of eligibility left, his departure is a significant loss for the team. Sammy Malignaggi, a backup running back and kick returner, saw limited playing time last season and was unlikely to see much action in 2024 with the transfer additions at running back. Solomon Vanhorse, a versatile player at returner and running back, also departed the team. He was likely behind Ayo Adeyi and George Pettaway on the depth chart.

Collin Carroll, a tight end who redshirted in 2023, is leaving the program in search of more playing time. The tight end room at JMU is crowded with players like Kyi Wright and Taylor Thompson leading the pack. Wesley Bostic, an offensive lineman with three years of eligibility left, has entered the transfer portal as a reserve lineman and is not projected to see significant playing time in 2024.
