National Political Science Honor Society Inducts Five New Members

Honoring the Future Leaders: Pi Sigma Alpha Inducts Five Promising Students into its Prestigious Ranks

On April 15, 2024, the Alpha Zeta Nu Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, a prestigious National Political Science Honor Society, held an induction ceremony at the University of Louisiana Monroe. Five promising students, Elenora Franco, Haleigh Lewellyan, Jessica DeFreese, Mallory LaBoeuf, and Melanna Morris, were inducted into the society during the event. The keynote address was delivered by David Orr, the City Manager of Texarkana, Texas, who was accompanied by Chiquita Burks, the current City Management Fellow.

Pi Sigma Alpha aims to promote the scientific and practical study of government problems and encourage reforms in governmental machinery while educating the electorate on critical government issues. To be eligible for membership in Pi Sigma Alpha, students must meet specific academic criteria such as having an overall GPA within the top one-third of their graduating class, a GPA of 3.5 or better in Political Science courses and completing more than twelve hours of political science courses.

Pi Sigma Alpha is a highly respected national political science honor society founded in 1919 at the University of Texas. The organization brings together students and faculty interested in political science research and education. With over 700 chapters worldwide and more than 800 new members annually inducted into its ranks each year, Pi Sigma Alpha remains committed to fostering intellectual interest in political science among its members and promoting scholarship in this vital field.
