7-Year Sentence for Clinic Owner in $15 Million Health-Care Fraud Scheme

Gibbs Sentenced to 84 Months in Federal Prison for Healthcare Fraud Scheme.

Gibbs, who defrauded Medicare of more than $1.8 million by billing for services that were not provided or unnecessary, was sentenced to 84 months in federal prison. In addition to the restitution she must pay, Gibbs also forfeited nearly $1.9 million in illicit proceeds.

The scheme involved billing Medicare for services that were either unnecessary or never provided, defrauding the government out of millions of dollars. Gibbs also engaged in illegal kickbacks to incentivize referrals to her clinic, further exploiting the Medicare system for personal gain.

The sentencing of Gibbs serves as a warning to others who may be considering similar schemes that they will face severe consequences for defrauding the government and exploiting vulnerable patients for financial gain. It sends a strong message that those who commit healthcare fraud will be held accountable for their actions.
