Oakland County residents and business owners face challenges after storm damage

Ferndale: Severe Storms Cause Devastation, Injure Resident and Damage Businesses

On Wednesday, Oakland County, Michigan was hit by severe storms that brought strong winds and heavy rains. The storm caused significant damage to some residents and business owners in the area. Cleanup efforts were quickly underway after the storms passed through Southeast Michigan.

In Ferndale, some of the worst damage occurred, surprising residents with the force of the storm. Several buildings in Ferndale, including an apartment complex on 9 Mile Road and Paxton Street, were damaged by the strong winds and heavy rains. Part of the roof at the apartment complex blew off, injuring a resident on the fifth floor who was taken to the hospital. The extent of her injuries was not immediately clear, but cleanup efforts were intensified as some residents might need to be relocated to a hotel due to the damage.

Businesses along 9 Mile Road in Ferndale also experienced damage from the storm, including a restaurant, auto repair shop, and vintage store. The owner of Vogue Vintage, Steve Humphreys, arrived to find water seeping in from holes in the ceiling and was surprised to discover that the roof had blown off. Cleanup efforts were intensified in Oakland County after the storm brought high winds, lightning, and heavy rains, leaving a mess for residents and business owners to deal with.

The cleanup efforts are ongoing as Oakland County continues to assess the damage caused by severe storms on Wednesday.
