Family Night Goes Out of This World: Sebring Community Engages with Space Exploration.
Families recently gathered at B.L. Miller Elementary gymnasium in Sebring for a unique and engaging family engagement night. The event, sponsored by United Way’s Success After 6 program, aimed to spark curiosity and interest in space exploration following the solar eclipse on April 8. Over 200 attendees participated in guided tours of the universe presented by Mobile Ed Productions.
Jill Dennis, the family engagement coordinator for Sebring Local Schools and Success After 6 coordinator, expressed gratitude for the collaboration that made the event possible. Partners In Education (P.I.E.) contributed to the event by providing food for purchase, with funds raised going towards future activities and events for Sebring students. In addition to the planetarium tours, families enjoyed playing bingo in between sessions, with winners receiving Oh WOW! STEM Sak bundles. One lucky student even won a National Geographic 70m Sky View Telescope as a grand prize, courtesy of SA6.
