Ella Gibson Falls Short of World Record but Sets Personal Best in Shanghai Archery Competition

In Shanghai, Ella Gibson attempted to break her own world record of 715 points in the compound women’s event. However, she fell short and managed to score 713 points, which was still a personal best for her. Despite not setting a new record, Gibson was pleased with her performance as most of her shots were very close to the center.

Qualifying in the top spot was a major goal for Gibson and she achieved it by focusing on staying in her zone and not getting too caught up in the score. She also noted that her shots that weren’t perfect were still very close to the center, which added to her satisfaction with her performance.

The top eight qualifiers in the competition receive bonus points towards the Hyundai Archery World Cup Ranking. Some of Gibson’s main competitors include Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Sara Lopez, and Aditi Swami, who qualified in eighth place with 704 points. There was no top-64 cut in the compound women’s competition while Jesse Sut won a shoot-off to secure the last spot in the bracket for the compound men’s event. Korea qualified in first place for both the compound men’s and mixed team events while India took pole position in the compound women’s team event.
