Discover the Secrets of the Ocean: Santa Monica Children to Explore Science through Heal the Bay’s Aquarium Science Camp

This summer, children in Santa Monica have the opportunity to explore the world of science through the Aquarium Science Camp organized by Heal the Bay.

Heal the Bay is a nonprofit organization that aims to ensure the safety, health, and cleanliness of coastal waters and watersheds in Greater Los Angeles. They offer a variety of programs and camps throughout the year to spark students’ interest in science and learning.

The Aquarium Science Camp is a hands-on educational experience that takes place from June 24 to July 26. Children can immerse themselves in different ocean environments, interact with live animals at the Aquarium, observe the beach, play games, and learn how to become ocean stewards. The camp offers a unique learning environment outside of the classroom where children can directly observe, ask questions, provide explanations, and communicate information in an interactive and engaging manner.

According to Kelly Kelly, Associate Director of Aquarium Education at Heal the Bay, making learning relevant is crucial. The camp provides hands-on experiences like digging in the sand, discovering marine creatures, and engaging in various activities that encourage a love for science and the ocean.

The camp is held at the Heal the Bay Aquarium on Santa Monica Pier and is open to children from kindergarten through eighth grade. Daily and weekly rates are available for further details about the camps. For more information about Heal
