Elon Musk in China for Talks on Introducing Autonomous Driving Software

Tesla’s Successful Partnership with China: Elon Musk Meets with Prime Minister Li Qiang in Beijing to Expand Presence and Technology

Elon Musk recently met with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang in Beijing, where the Premier praised Tesla’s successful example of American-Chinese economic and trade cooperation. The meeting took place at a time when Tesla is preparing to release its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software in China, its second-largest market. Although Tesla launched the FSD software four years ago, it has yet to make it available in China.

Musk announced on the X platform that Tesla could soon release FSD to customers in China and is seeking permission to transfer the data collected there abroad for its autonomous driving technology algorithms. The company has complied with Chinese regulations by storing all data collected by its Chinese team in Shanghai without transferring it to the US. This move reflects Tesla’s commitment to expanding its presence and technology in the Chinese market.

During his visit and discussions with Chinese officials, Musk expressed optimism about the increasing presence of electric vehicles in China. He believes that in the future, all cars will be electric. Since entering the market a decade ago, Tesla has sold over 1.7 million cars in China, making its factory in Shanghai the largest in the world. Musk’s visit and talks with Chinese officials reflect Tesla’s dedication to expanding its presence and technology in one of the world’s fastest-growing markets.
