Despite Biden’s Efforts, More Americans Trust Trump on Economy and Inflation: New Survey Shows

A recent survey by ABC News/Ipsos revealed that Americans have more trust in former President Trump when it comes to the economy and inflation, compared to current President Biden. The poll found that the economy and inflation were major concerns for Americans heading into the upcoming presidential election, with a majority expressing their trust in Trump on these issues.

In terms of the economy, 46% of respondents said they trust Trump, versus 32% who trust Biden. Additionally, 44% said they trust Trump to handle inflation, with only 30% expressing the same trust in Biden. A significant portion, 25%, stated that they trust neither candidate on the issue of inflation.

The survey also looked at the financial situation of respondents since Biden took office. 43% said they are not as well off financially, 40% said they are about the same, and 16% reported being better off. The poll presented a hypothetical scenario where Biden and Trump would go head-to-head in an election. Among all adults surveyed, Trump had 46% support while Biden had 44%. However, among registered voters, Biden led with 46% support over Trump’s 45%. Among likely voters, Biden received 49% support compared to Trump’s 45%.

Overall, the ABC News/Ipsos poll was conducted online among 2,260 adults from April 25-30 and has a margin of sampling error of +/-2 percentage points.
