Residents of the county can access free mental health programs

Boulder County Launches New Programs to Support Mental and Behavioral Health of Residents: WellMind Connection and Crisis Assistance and Treatment (CAT) Team

Boulder County has recently launched two new programs aimed at supporting the mental and behavioral health of its residents. The WellMind Connection program offers residents access to resource navigators or the Crisis Assistance and Treatment (CAT) team at no cost. Individuals can reach out to the program via phone, email, or through the WellMind website to receive assistance.

The CAT team is made up of bilingual navigators who provide culturally responsive services to those experiencing an acute crisis. These navigators aim to keep individuals in their communities and assist them in navigating through the system by removing barriers. The programs are part of Boulder County’s response to community needs and aim to address challenges residents face in finding appropriate resources for behavioral health care.

In 2023, the Boulder County Commissioners adopted the Behavioral Health Road Map with a vision to help all residents access the mental and behavioral health support they need at the right time. The WellMind Connection program is able to assess incoming requests and direct individuals to either the CAT team for urgent needs or to WellMind resource navigators for ongoing support services.

Funded through the American Rescue Plan Act, these programs receive $6 million to support mental and behavioral health services. The goal is for the community to feel supported and have access to mental health resources in a personalized, trustworthy, and relatable way. Residents in need of assistance can call 303-441-1300 Monday to Friday from 12-4 p.m., or email [email protected] for help.
