Production of electric vehicle components expanded by BMW

BMW Invests 200 Million Euros to Expand Production Capacity for Electric Powertrain Components in Landshut

BMW is investing 200 million euros to expand production capacity at its components plant in Landshut, Germany. The focus of the expansion will be on producing the central housing for the electric powertrain of the Neue Klasse. This investment includes the addition of two new production lines which will increase the annual capacity for fifth and sixth generation aluminum housings by about 30 percent.

This means that the fifth generation of BMW electric motors, used in current model series such as iX3, i4, i5, i7, and iX, will also benefit from the expansion. Additionally, the sixth generation is planned for Neue Klasse vehicles from 2025.

Thomas Thym, head of the BMW Group plant in Landshut, emphasizes the continuous expansion of the site’s expertise in cutting-edge component production and new technology development. This skill set will provide the flexibility needed for future operations.
