Tragic Accident Leaves Foreign Tour Guide Severely Injured on Ho Chi Minh City River
On April 19, a tragic accident occurred on the Tien River in Ho Chi Minh City when a boat carrying 42 foreign guests collided with a ferry. The boat’s crew and the ferry driver both tested negative for alcohol and drugs, but the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
The impact of the collision left several passengers injured, including a 36-year-old male tour guide who suffered severe injuries, including a severed elbow. Dr. Le Dinh Hai from the Department of Trauma and Orthopedics at Cho Ray Hospital stated that upon arrival at the hospital, the patient was in critical condition with injuries including traumatic shock, ruptured organs, and multiple broken bones. The patient underwent emergency surgery to address his injuries, including amputation of his arm.
Despite the efforts of the medical team, they were not able to save his arm. This case serves as a reminder of the dangers of water transportation and highlights the importance of safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
