Diabetic complications cause necrosis in the feet of acclaimed artist Bang Thai

Bang Thai: A Journey from Diabetes to Recovery – The Inspiring Story of a Meritorious Artist

Hanoi Meritorious Artist Bang Thai, 72 years old, recently underwent surgery to amputate half of his right foot due to diabetic necrosis. Bang Thai, a former director of Quang Ninh Drama Theater, has been battling diabetes for over a decade, which has led to severe complications. For the past two years, he has been bedridden, experiencing numbness, burning sensations, chronic pain, and insomnia in both feet.

Diabetes-related foot issues are common among the elderly and can lead to severe infections necessitating amputation. Regular screenings for diabetes are recommended for high-risk groups, especially the elderly. Bang Thai’s twisted blood vessels and atherosclerosis made the intervention challenging. Without immediate treatment, there was a high risk of infection spreading throughout the body.

A team of specialists performed surgery on Mr. Thai to remove the necrotic tissue, revascularize his leg, and amputate half of his foot to prevent further complications. Following the surgery, Mr. Thai experienced less pain and better sleep, allowing for improved management of his diabetes. He continues to receive treatment for his condition and psychological support to overcome depression.

Despite his health challenges, Bang Thai hopes to continue his artistic pursuits while managing his diabetes effectively through proper care and treatment advice from doctors such as quitting smoking avoid sugary drinks and maintaining proper foot care.

Doctors advised Mr. Thai that smoking is not good for health as it increases the risk of heart disease and stroke among people with diabetes.

Mr. Thai should also be careful about what he eats and drinks as they can affect his blood sugar levels negatively.

Lastly but not leastly proper foot care is essential in preventing future complications as it helps identify any early signs of damage or infection that could lead to amputation.

Bang Thai’s story serves as a reminder that even with health challenges like diabetes-related foot issues there is always hope for recovery if one follows proper care and treatment advice from healthcare professionals.
