Court Denies Petition to Release Mamikon Aslanyan from Custody

Arrest of Vanadzor Council Leader Sparks Controversy Amidst Local Elections: Aslanyan Claims Political Motivation Behind Case

Vanadzor Council of Elders elections were held in December 2021, and Mamikon Aslanyan, the leader of Vanadzor for five years, was arrested immediately after. Despite his political party receiving the most votes, he was unable to return to his position as head of the community. Aslanyan claims that the case against him is politically motivated, stating that it is part of a political agenda.
