A Face in the Crowd: The London Premiere of Elvis Costello’s New Musical at the Young Vic Theatre

A Face in the Crowd, a stage adaptation of the 1957 film, will be making its world premiere at London’s Young Vic Theatre. The show, which features music by Elvis Costello and a book by Sarah Ruhl, will star Ramin Karimloo and Anoushka Lucas in the lead roles. This is the final production directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah before he steps down as artistic director of the theater. The show will run from September 10 to November 9, with an opening night on September 17. Additional casting will be announced soon.

The musical has been in development for several years and features lighting design by Jackie Shemesh, music supervision by Phil Bateman, sound design by Emma Laxton, and choreography by Lizzi Gee. Casting is done by Heather Basten. The story follows a radio producer who gives a jailed drifter a chance on the airwaves, only to realize that it comes with unexpected consequences. This highly anticipated production promises to be a unique and captivating experience for audiences in London. Tickets are available for purchase on the Young Vic website.
