U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito Secures Millions for Health Services, Economic Development, and Infrastructure Projects in West Virginia

U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) has announced resources from several federal agencies to support various projects in West Virginia, aimed at enhancing health services, economic development, infrastructure, academic and defense research, park improvement efforts, and energy projects across the state.

Among the grants announced is $1,799,114 in Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Center Cluster funding for WomenCare Inc., located in Scott Depot. Additionally, HHS funding will also be provided to local agencies such as $8,465,926 for HHS Head Start funding for the Southwestern Community Action Council Inc. in Huntington; $7,678,870 for HHS Health Center Cluster funding for Valley Health Systems Inc. also in Huntington; and $1,229,006 for HHS Centers for Disease and Prevention National Center for Chronic Diseases Prevention and Health (CDC-NCCDPHP) National and State Tobacco Control Program for the West Virginia Department of Health and Humans Resources in Charleston.

Furthermore, Senator Capito secured $500,000 in Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) funding for Marshall University’s Appalachian Cybersecurity Training Innovation and Opportunity Network (Appalachian ACTION). She also obtained $240,000 from the Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) funding for Mason County Development Authority’s Disaster Recovery Strategic Plan for West Virginia. These funds are critical to supporting these important initiatives that will have a significant impact on the state’s future.
