Trump Cracks Down on GOP Campaigns Using His Name for Fundraising

President Joe Biden has been outpacing former President Donald Trump in fundraising efforts, prompting Trump to take action against GOP campaigns using his name and likeness for fundraising purposes. In a letter sent to GOP vendors, the Trump campaign demanded that all candidates and committees using Trump’s name, image, and likeness split a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations with the Trump National Committee JFC.

Trump is cracking down on Republicans who have been using his name and face for years to raise money from GOP voters without his consent. The former president is demanding that these campaigns send him a cut of any money raised in this way. Additionally, the Trump campaign is reminding other campaigns not to impersonate the former president or suggest that donors are disloyal if they don’t donate. The letter warns that any vendor whose clients ignore these guidelines will be held responsible for their actions, with repeated violations resulting in a suspension of business relationships with the Trump National Committee JFC.

It is clear that Trump is taking steps to ensure that his name and likeness are not used without his consent and that he receives a portion of the funds raised in his name. While it remains to be seen whether this crackdown will help close the gap between Biden and Trump in fundraising efforts, one thing is certain: The former president will stop at nothing to protect his brand and maintain control over how his name is used by others.
