The Refugee Team: Hope and Resilience in the Face of Adversity
The Paris Olympics will see the debut of the Refugee Team, comprised of 36 athletes from 11 countries. This team was chosen from over 70 scholarships and will compete in 12 sports, including athletics, badminton, boxing, breaking, canoeing, cycling, judo, shooting, swimming, taekwondo, weightlifting, and wrestling.
Masomah Ali Zada of Afghanistan serves as the chef de mission for the Refugee Team and emphasizes the importance of having their own emblem. According to Zada, this emblem creates a sense of belonging among the athletes and helps them feel valued and respected.
The Refugee Team’s emblem features a heart at its center surrounded by arrows. This symbol represents hope and resilience in the face of adversity. Instead of competing under the Olympic flag, this team will use their own emblem to showcase their unique identity on an international stage.
The Paris Olympics are set to begin on July 24th and provide a platform for the Refugee Team to showcase their talents and share their stories with the world. This team represents a testament to humanity’s ability to overcome adversity and find hope in even the darkest of times.
