Launch of the World’s Largest Sportfishing Superyacht

The New Era of Luxury Sportfishing Yachts: A Look at the Special One

The world’s largest sport fishing yacht, Special One (Project 406), is currently undergoing sea trials in the North Sea. Designed by Vripack Yacht Design and built by Royal Husiman, this custom sportfishing yacht promises to redefine the concept of a big offshore fishing boat.

At 171 feet long, the Special One combines the proportions of an American sportfish boat with the luxurious feel of a yacht on a grand scale. Bart M. Bouwhuis, Co-Creative Director at Vripack, describes this yacht as a sportfisher on steroids, offering a unique and impressive fishing experience. With its long flaring bow and super chic curves, this yacht is sure to turn heads on the water.

The photos of the Special One underway show its sleek aluminum hull and superstructure, hinting at smooth and efficient passages to the fishing grounds. The well-designed fishing area at the stern suggests that this yacht is equipped to handle a variety of fishing experiences, from marlin to tuna.

While many sportfishing yachts are part of a larger fleet connected to a superyacht “mothership,” the Special One may pave the way for a new trend of owners seeking a serious offshore sportfishing boat that also serves as a luxurious superyacht. Only time will tell if this yacht sets a new standard for sportfishing yachts in the industry.
