Sweden’s Mondo Duplantis Breaks World Record in Pole Vault at Xiamen Diamond League Meeting

Sweden’s Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis kicked off his outdoor season with a bang at the Xiamen Diamond League meeting, breaking his own world record in the pole vault. The 24-year-old athlete, who holds numerous titles including Olympic, two-time world, and European champion, cleared 6.24 meters on his first attempt at the Egret Stadium. This was an impressive feat that surpassed his previous record of 6.23 meters set in Eugene last year by just 1cm.

Duplantis began the competition at a relatively low height of 5.62m and easily cleared heights of 5.82m and 6.00m before achieving the new world record. This marked his eighth world record in the pole vault discipline, further cementing his position as one of the top athletes in this event. Despite Duplantis’ remarkable performance, American Sam Hendricks finished in second place with a best jump of 5.82m, while China’s Bokai Huang came in third with a jump of 5.72m.

Overall, it was an exciting start to the outdoor season for Duplantis, who continues to assert himself as one of the top athletes in the pole vault event. His impressive performance has set a high bar for future competitions and has left many fans eagerly anticipating what he will achieve next.
