Search begins for new health officer as County appoints acting officer

San Juan County Welcomes Dr. Herbie Duber as New Acting Health Officer, Amid Search for New Appointees.

Dr. Frank James, the outgoing Health Officer in San Juan County, announced his resignation after 31 years of service. In his place, the San Juan County Council has appointed Dr. Herbie Duber as the acting Health Officer for the county. Dr. Duber currently serves as the Washington State Department of Health Regional Medical Officer for Northwest Washington, where he collaborates on healthcare policy and programs across the state.

With his extensive medical experience, Councilmember Cindy Wolf expressed confidence in appointing Dr. Duber to this key position. The Health Officer plays a critical role in promoting and maintaining the health and wellness of the community.
