Ready for Change: Building Effective Climate Readiness through Primary Care Insights

“Science on the Sound” is a monthly lecture series held at the Coastal Studies Institute on the ECU Outer Banks Campus in Wanchese. This series brings perspectives from all over the state and focuses on coastal topics in northeastern North Carolina.

The next “Science on the Sound” event will feature a presentation on the potential risks and hazards associated with climate change. Dr. Alex Hodges, a clinical professor in the Department of Advanced Nursing Practice and Education at ECU, will be discussing “Ready for Change: Building Effective Climate Readiness” on May 23 at 6 p.m.

Dr. Hodges is a climate change expert who has worked with organizations such as Americares and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Her research focuses on the climate impacts within Eastern North Carolina. During the session, she will provide a nurse practitioner’s perspective on climate change and its implications for primary care.

Dr. Hodges volunteers at the Community Care Clinic of Dare, providing primary care services, and also serves on the Dare County Board of Health and Human Services.
